#DIVE4STEM CAMPAIGN
Women are significantly underrepresented in STEM. The gap widens significantly in aquatic-based STEM careers and when the factor of being African-American is considered, the gapping void widens exponentially. Black Girls Dive Foundation, Inc., was founded to inspire and empower young girls and women to engage in aquatic-based recreational and STEM activities and to explore STEM careers.
The purpose of this campaign is to raise money for STEM BGDF's signature program, STREAMS, which provides girls with an opportunity to be actively engaged in STEM activities. The STREAMS program integrates Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics with Scuba Diving and Scientific Diving. Girls will learn about Diving theory and skills that will lead to certification in SCUBA. They will also gain knowledge in engineering process for design and will utilize that information to build Remote Operated Vehicle Recorders (ROVR) for an aquatic environment and use the ROVR to compete in local and national SeaPerch competitions as well use the ROVR to explore diverse marine ecosystems. All donations go directly towards STEM programming.
